Overview
Crane hire in and around Norwich
We provide crane hire and contract lifting across Norwich and Norfolk, for loads from 20kg to 1,000 tonnes.
There is no motorway into Norfolk, so every crane arrives on the A11 or the A47, and the lanes in the centre take careful planning. Send us the job and we will plan the route and the position.
How far do we go?
Every NR postcode across the county, and anywhere else in the UK.
Which cranes?
City cranes and light truck cranes for the lanes, all-terrain mobile cranes for heavy plant and the coast, and our electric pick and carry cranes indoors.
First lift booking?
Make it a contract lift. We survey, plan and supervise it, and carry the insurance.
Budget figure only?
Send photos, the weight and the reach. A desktop quote generally follows the same day.

How it works
How it works
Tell us the job
Load weight and size, the site address, where it goes and photos of the lane or yard.
We price it
We quote from what you send. Lanes, listed buildings and soft ground may get a visit first.
We plan it
On a contract lift our appointed person writes the lift plan and RAMS, including the route in, and sends them before the day.
Norwich
Lifting across Norwich and Norfolk
We cover the city and its estates, the towns round it, and out across the county to the coast at Great Yarmouth and Cromer.
Where we lift
The city
The centre, Thorpe Hamlet, Lakenham, Mile Cross and Eaton
Round the city
Hellesdon, Sprowston, Costessey and Thorpe St Andrew, with Broadland Business Park
South and west
Wymondham, Attleborough, Dereham and Watton
The coast
Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, North Walsham and Cromer
What we plan for
No motorway
Cranes reach Norfolk on the A11 or the A47, single carriageway in places, so the route and the timing are planned before we quote.
Medieval lanes
Central lanes are narrow, often one-way or pedestrian, with listed frontages. The standing position is settled first and the machine chosen to fit.
Listed buildings
Reaching over a listed roof needs the owner’s agreement as well as a lift plan, and a method that protects the fabric.
Soft and peaty ground
Ground along the Wensum and the Yare, and towards the Broads, carries far less than it looks. We check the bearing and bring mats.
Questions
Common questions
Can you get a crane into a city-centre lane?
It depends on the approach and whether there is anywhere to stand. Send the address and photos of the lane and the building.
Do you cover Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft?
Yes, including harbour and energy work. Quayside lifts are planned round vessel movements, the tide and the wind.
Can you work on soft or peaty ground?
Yes, with the ground checked first. We plan the outrigger positions and bring mats where the bearing is marginal.
What size crane do I need?
That comes from the weight at radius, the distance from the crane’s centre to the landing point, plus the hook block and slings.
